اللَّهُمَّ يَسِّرْ لِي عُمْرَتِي وَتَقَبَّلْهَا مِنِّي
Allahumma yassir lī ‘umratī wa taqabbalhā minnī
Meaning: O Allah, make my Umrah easy for me and accept it from me.
Performing Tawaf is one of the most surreal experiences for Muslims. As you revolve around the Holy Kaaba, you are reminded of your true purpose in life. It revives your faith and brings you a lot closer to the religion. Here is a dua that you can recite as you begin your Tawaf.
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ
Bismillāh, Allāhu Akbar
Meaning: In the name of Allah, Allah is the Greatest.
There are no specified duas to recite during Umrah. But here is a Sunnah dua that our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) recited and also encouraged his followers to recite between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone.
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Rabbana ātinā fid-dunyā ḥasanah wa fil-ākhirati ḥasanah wa qinā ‘adhāban-nār
Meaning: Our Lord, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire. (Qur’an 2:201)
Making Istigfaar was a prominent part of the worship of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW). He used to frequent Istigfaar. What is a better place than the Holy Kaaba to follow the Sunnah of asking for the forgiveness of the Almighty? Here is a supplication that you can recite while you are in Tawaf.
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَتَجَاوَزْ عَمَّا تَعْلَمُ، إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْأَعَزُّ الْأَكْرَمُ
Rabbi-ghfir warḥam watajāwaz ‘ammā ta‘lam, innaka anta al-A‘azzu al-Akram
Meaning: My Lord, forgive, have mercy, and pardon what You know. You are the Most Mighty, the Most Generous.
Multazam is the area between Hajar al-Aswad and the door of the Holy Kaaba. This spot is quite significant for Muslims because it is believed that the duas are accepted here. You can recite the following dua as you stand at this spot.
اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ، وَارْفَعْ دَرَجَاتِي، وَاغْفِرْ ذُنُوبِي
Allahumma iftaḥ lī abwāba raḥmatik, warfa‘ darajātī, waghfir dhunūbī
Meaning: O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy, raise my ranks, and forgive my sins.
After Tawaf, pilgrims arrive at Safa and Marwah for Sa’i. You can start this ritual by reciting the following Sunnah recitation from the Holy Quran.
إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِنْ شَعَائِرِ اللَّهِ
Innaṣ-Ṣafā wal-Marwah min sha‘ā’irillāh (Qur’an 2:158)
After that, you can recite the following Sunnah supplication.
اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ، لَا إِلٰه إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ، وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Allāhu Akbar, lā ilāha illā Allāh, waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahu al-mulku wa lahu al-ḥamd, wa huwa ‘alā kulli shay’in qadīr.
Prophet Muhammad (SAW) repeated this supplication thrice and also made his personal duas in between.
As you perform Umrah during Ramadan, make sure that you don’t neglect the most blessed night. Ask for forgiveness and the blessings of the Almighty on Laylatul Qadr. Muslims, no matter where in the world, immerse themselves in worship on this night. You should also make the most of it at the pilgrimage sites. اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuḥibbul-‘afwa fa‘fu ‘annī
Meaning: O Allah, You are Forgiving and love forgiveness, so forgive me.
