Umrah status update – check your pilgrimage progress online
Once you've applied for your Umrah visa or registered on Nusuk, the waiting period is often the hardest part. You've done everything asked of you, and now you just want to know where things stand. Here's exactly where to look for a genuine Umrah status update, depending on how you applied, and what to do if you haven't heard anything after a reasonable amount of time.
Start with wherever you actually applied
This sounds obvious, but it's the most common mix up we see. If you registered directly through Nusuk, your status lives on Nusuk. If you applied for your eVisa through the Saudi tourism portal, that's where you check. If you booked through a travel agency who handled the application on your behalf, they're your first point of contact, not the government platforms themselves, since your application may be tied to their account rather than yours directly.
Checking your Nusuk registration status
Log back into your account at umrah.nusuk.sa using the email and password you registered with. Your dashboard should show where your application sits, whether that's under review, approved, or waiting on additional information. Nusuk notes that once your details are verified, available packages are shown to you based on current rules for your country, so if your status hasn't moved, it may simply mean verification is still in progress rather than something being wrong.
Checking your eVisa status
If you applied through the Saudi eVisa portal, sign back into the same account you used to submit your application. Processing times vary depending on the season and your nationality, and the portal will typically update your status directly and email your approved eVisa once it's issued. Check your spam folder before assuming nothing has arrived, since automated visa emails sometimes land there. It's also worth whitelisting the sender address as soon as you submit your application, so a genuinely important update doesn't get filtered out automatically later on.
If you booked through an agency
When an agency has submitted your application as part of a package, they usually have direct visibility into where things stand that isn't always available through your own login. This is one of the genuine advantages of booking through an accredited agent rather than going fully independent, someone on the other end can actually chase a stalled application rather than leaving you refreshing a page. If you're unsure whether your agency is properly accredited, ATAS status through the Australian Travel Industry Association is worth checking.
What normal processing time looks like
Processing can take anywhere from a couple of days to around a week or more, depending on your nationality, the season, and how complete your application was when submitted. Busy periods, particularly in the lead up to Ramadan, tend to push timelines out further. A short delay isn't automatically a problem, it's usually just volume. If you're travelling with a large group, build in extra buffer time as well, since group applications sometimes process together rather than individually.
Tracking multiple family members
If you registered several family members together, check whether each person has an individual status or whether the whole group moves through the process as one. Some platforms process linked applications together, so one incomplete document can hold up everyone attached to that booking. If you notice one person's status is different from the rest, that's usually the one worth following up on first. Keeping a simple spreadsheet of who applied where, with reference numbers and dates, makes this far easier if you're coordinating for extended family rather than just yourself.
What a status update actually won't tell you
A status showing "approved" confirms your application has cleared, but it doesn't guarantee every downstream detail, like your specific hotel room type or transport arrangements, is finalised the way you expect. Those details typically sit with your booking confirmation rather than your visa or registration status, so it's worth checking both rather than assuming an approved visa means every part of your trip is locked in.
When to actually follow up
If a reasonable window has passed with no update, whether that's determined by the platform's own stated timelines or simply a week with nothing at all, it's fair to reach out. Contact the platform's support channels directly, or your agency if they handled the submission, with your reference number and passport details ready to hand, since support staff will almost always ask for both before they can look anything up. Having that number on hand speeds up every conversation you'll have about your application from here on. Our FAQs page covers a few more scenarios pilgrims commonly run into at this stage.
